Offer Received!

After nearly a year, I'm in! Received confirmation that I will be stationed in Whistler, British Columbia for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics!! It was
a long process and longer wait for an answer. Each volunteer goes through
a screening process including a background check by the Royal Canadian Mounted
Police. You should have seen the neighbors when that Mounty came riding
into Dublin with his horse and red coat!! Fortunately they didn't dig too deep!
There were three telephone interviews along with an application process and
personal references.

Obviously they accept simple minded transportation "experts" like me. My job
title is "Load Zone Attendant" at the Whistler Transportation Mall. Wow eh?
I think that translates to Walmart Greeter in American! Keep it simple I guess.

Anyway, there is an exciting adventure about to begin.

Whistler is home to alpine skiing, jumping, sled events and more.

With the games being held February 12-28th I have to think there will be concern
for warm weather! Our ski group was up there a few years back in late January
and it rained 7 straight days!!! Whistler is not far from the ocean and the elevation is not real high.

Personally, I am hoping one of our former Hockey Bucks, RJ Umberger and/or Dave Steckel makes the US Hockey Team. Think they will let me stay with them?

Anyway, the excitement is building as I await my work schedule. Once I get that
I will be looking for a place to stay and a way to get there! Anybody own a jet?
